The first complete custom motorcycle project built under the Versa Motors name. For us, building this motorcycle was about much more than simply changing its appearance. From the very beginning, our goal was to create a cohesive, lightweight and minimalist machine that combines a classic foundation with a modern approach to craftsmanship.

We started the project with a stock Suzuki GN 250, which was extensively rebuilt over the course of the project. Our goal was to preserve the character of this small, classic single-cylinder motorcycle while giving it a completely new silhouette.

Frame Modification

One of the most significant changes was the complete redesign of the rear section of the frame. We shortened the original structure and fabricated the new section from a carefully selected and precisely bent tube, tailored to the frame’s geometry and dimensions.

This allowed us to shorten and visually lighten the rear of the motorcycle, creating a clean, straight line that became the foundation of the project’s entire design concept.

WHEELS BUILT FROM SCRATCH

The wheels were not replaced with an off-the-shelf set. We built them from scratch using Excel rims, Suzuki/Honda hubs and custom-made spokes.

After lacing, the wheels were properly trued and fitted with Metzeler Lasertec tyres. The setup was carefully selected to preserve the motorcycle’s classic character while complementing its new silhouette.

CHASSIS AND COCKPIT

The front suspension was adapted from a Yamaha SR 250 while retaining the original Suzuki triple clamps. The motorcycle was also fitted with a Renthal Fatbar handlebar and matching handlebar clamps.

The cockpit was kept as clean and minimal as possible. We installed new switches and a new throttle assembly, removing unnecessary components and leaving only what was essential.

ENGINE AND MECHANICS

The original GN 250 engine remained at the heart of the motorcycle, but underwent a complete overhaul before the project was completed.

The work included cylinder honing and the installation of a new genuine Suzuki piston. The carburetor was fully rebuilt, while the drivetrain was fitted with a new DID chain and sprocket kit.

This meant the project went far beyond visual modifications. Restoring the motorcycle to proper technical condition was equally important to us.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

The entire wiring harness was designed and built from scratch to suit the motorcycle’s new configuration. Rather than modifying the original wiring at selected points, we created a completely new electrical system tailored to the new switches, lighting and other components.

This allowed us to keep the electrical system clean and organized while maintaining the motorcycle’s minimalist appearance.

LIGHTING

At the front, we installed a PIUG headlight, while the rear features a HIGHSIDER tail light. The rear light was integrated directly into the redesigned frame structure.

This solution allowed us to maintain a clean, uncluttered line at the rear of the motorcycle, without the bulky, traditional light mounts or unnecessary additional components.

TANK AND SEAT

The seat was built entirely in-house. Starting with a steel base, we fabricated a structure shaped to follow the new frame line and redesigned rear section of the motorcycle.

The fuel tank was finished in a color from the BMW Individual palette.

EXHAUST SYSTEM

The original character of the exhaust system was preserved, while its design was carefully modified to suit the new configuration of the motorcycle.

We fitted a different exhaust tip and fabricated an additional silencer. This allowed us to achieve a deeper exhaust note while maintaining a style that complements the overall design of the motorcycle.

It was the first complete custom motorcycle project built under the Versa Motors name, and a project that allowed us to define, in practice, how we want to approach motorcycle builds.

The result is a lightweight and minimalist Suzuki GN 250, combining a classic foundation with a bespoke design and modern solutions.
